Please know that when he turned to me with tears staining his cheeks,

Each drop that fell was a dagger to the heart.

Please know that when he put his head against my chest,

Every skin cell that he touched, burned with shame.

Please know that when I placed my hand on the back of his head and gently stroked,

That I didn't do it to hurt you, but to comfort him.

Please know that when he gets this pained look on his face,

I don't hug him out of spite, but to put some warmth back into him.

Please know that I just want him happy, smiling and laughing,

But his pain becomes my pain.

Please stop this nonsensical roller coaster,

Because he still loves you more than words can describe.
